Oh my gosh!! Amazing! I have read up to chapter 7 so far, but am already re-thinking our plan to go on a similar self-drive in January 2009 with our 21 year old son. Like you, none of us is really mechanical minded, though we coped with the few minor hiccups we had while doing a self-drive through Namibia in January this year. A major concern would be space for three adults in the landrover, especially at night camping. Our son is over 6 foot tallIn Namibia it was just huby and I and we stayed in hotels. Your story is quite absorbing and I can’t wait to read the whole thing when I have a little more time! I also appreciated your account of the couple who ran the Xakanaxa luxury Camp; we met a few people like that in Namibia. It’s a tough life they lead, despite the luxury tourists see, and I guess that makes some of them a bit uncompassionate towards others in trouble. It did make us wonder though how they behaved in the past when times were easier for them!
    All the best!
    Regards Janina
